The Chef

I have started cooking when I was 10 years old. I loved it. I bought my first cookbook all by myself out of my pocket money.

But as I grew up and became a rebellious teenager, I thought that I don't want to be another woman stuck in the kitchen. I was going to be a psychologist and help people, and so I went to study a BA degree in Behavioral Sciences. After graduating I changed my mind and wanted to be an organizational consultant, so I went and studied an MA degree in Organizational Sociology.

I have graduated with honors from both programs, and after a few years of practice a head hunter recruited me to what I thought was the ultimate dream job - an organizational consultant in a big and successful hi-tech company. Soon I have found out that besides the great salary and benefits I didn't like that environment so much. And so, after a lot of thinking, I have decided to change profession and pursue my true great love - the love of cooking great food for people.

So being a personal chef is a second career for me. I have found my calling. Now I like being stuck in the kitchen and don't see myself as a big disappointment to the feminist movement anymore. OK, I admit it, it is even better to cook in my home kitchen from which I can see my kids play in the family room.

In the past four years I have cooked as a personal chef for families in Seattle and on the Eastside, including some local celebrities. I have also cooked part-time at Vios cafe in Seattle (one of my favorite places to eat) and in a catering company in Ballard.

Recently I have found a new obsession and that is writing about food-related topics in my blog - Family. Friendly. Food. Check it out.
